In summer 1995 East Londoner Mark Abery had an idea. Something special was about to happen. A juxtaposition of the world’s favourite pastimes – a football tournament with a live music stage. This was Rock ‘n’ Goal. The pioneering Music Industry Soccer Six was born. It was to define the 90’s Britpop era, kick-start a worldwide celebrity sports genre and be integral to music and popular culture for the next 30 years.

For many years The Soccer Six attracted unprecedented media coverage across scores of UK tabloid, broadsheet and TV Channels as one of most photographed celebrity sports events in the world. Hundreds of the biggest names in music, entertainment and sport played in front of tens of thousands of people at many of the countries’ most iconic football stadiums. It has evolved to provide an exciting multi-platform reach via the celebrities, attendees and online stakeholders.

30 years

Soccer Six is set for a historic reunion in 2025 with its 30th Anniversary celebrations. Kicking off will be the third Musos Awards – The Players Player – in London on Thursday, March 6th. Momentum will build into the Soccer Six events with a modern day festival and sports day twist plus influencers, wider TV and social media celebrities and the musicians and sports stars – Soccer Six is well and truly back.
